Our Focus

Tasha’s House supports the LGBTQIA+ community of Douglas County by providing a drop-in youth center, a meeting space for community groups, a clothing exchange closet with gender-affirming items, and a temporary shelter for unhoused youth.

Drop-In Youth Center

The drop-in space is a critical element for the program to offer emotional/social support, promote social connectedness, model pro-social behaviors, and positive relationships, and address risk factors and protective factors in a way that increases resilience among LGBTQIA+ youth.

Through support groups that offer a space to be with other youth who identify in similar ways, to receive inclusive and affirming sexual health and general health education, or to participate in civic engagement activities, the Drop-In Space offers many opportunities for members of the community to come together and be themselves, experience a sense of belonging, and create positive relationships with adults in their community.

Community Group Meeting Space

Tasha's House endeavors to bring together our community by providing quality and affordable meeting space to support community groups and nonprofit organizations with social-focused missions. By removing meeting space as an obstacle to learning, dialogue, and building community engagement, our partners are able to significantly increase their operating capacity and effectiveness in serving our community.

Clothing Exchange Closet

The clothes we wear are often a component of how our gender expression is perceived. For folks exploring their identity and physical appearance, clothing is an easier way to see how you feel in different styles, colors, and fits. The Gender Affirming Clothing Exchange at Tasha's House is a resource with the intention of providing Transgender, Non-binary, and Gender Non-conforming residents access to clothing and accessories within a safe space.

Tasha's House welcomes donations of clean/gently used clothing; please, no undergarments. We encourage you to drop off your donation at the resource center during operating hours which are 2:45PM-6PM Monday-Friday, September-May. Outside of that availability, don't hesitate to contact the board of directors at tashashouseboard@gmail.com to see how we can best accommodate the donation.

Temporary Shelter for Unhoused Youth

When school is over for the day, not all children have a comfortable environment to come home to.

We offer a warm place to stay, study, play, eat and relax while accessing other services and seeking housing solutions.
